As a Sportsbook that grew in the UK (Oxfordshire originally, but now most staff in the shadow of the Rock of Gibraltar) their racing coverage is solid. They price horse races daily and have a varied Ante Post selection. Racing fans will be pleased to see that they put money back into the sport by high profile sponsorship of races such as the Champion Hurdle.

For all the major markets Stan James offer a wide range of in-play markets, for the bigger football games they have at the time of the review 46 separate in-play markets. For major games 1×2 markets they bet to a competitive 108%.

The race will be televised live on Channel Four (after the weekends dual Classic treat we are being spoilt), but if you want to see the races up close it’s best to book the tickets asap as some enclosures have sold out already. Most enclosures have gone for Ladies day all ready (don’t worry I am sure the Rooneys will have got their tickets early!), and to make things worse their website has crashed! Of course a free alternative is to sit on the Chester Wall, take the picnic, some binoculars, a radio for the commentary and a smart phone for betting and you will have a cracking day if the sun shines! A similar free experience can be enjoyed on Tattenham Corner on the Derby Day. • Bored with Stan James Board Prices Offer?

  March 5, 2012Chris Denny TweetBeen a big fan of Stan James for many years, partly because I used to punt with them on the telephone when they were the trailblazing firm that rolled out in-play betting. They were the front runner in the race that has now seen Sportingbet and Bet365 currently take up the pace. Back in the day they were also the firm that first went 24/7 for their call centre. I still have happy memories of calling up and backing Michael Schumacher at 2am to win the Adelaide Grand Prix. However it’s fair to say that the Gibraltar based sportsbook is now lagging a bit behind Ladbrokes, William Hill, BetVictor and Bet365 in that they don’t offer best priced guarantee for UK and Ireland racing. David Pipe sadly failed to RSVP for the guest of honour, but Grand Crus will be making an appearance no doubt in March. The speculation grows as to whether it will go straight for the Gold Cup. My personal feelings are that it would be a crying shame to rush the horse, Arkle didn’t go straight at the Gold Cup, and I don’t believe novices should. They have the French bred star entered in a 3m chase at Newbury on the 11th of February, and if it goes there it will no doubt ramp up Cheltenham speculation even further! I am hoping to get stuck into the punting this afternoon, and will no doubt be tweeting throughout the day. Had a good week so far, so not sure whether to roll it up, or be conservative. A real shame, I guess that the Russian owner isn’t a fan of the punting. • Stan James takes over Sponsorship of Chester Cup

  January 20, 2012Chris Denny TweetStan James pick up from ToteSport Fred Done and the team at Betfred chose to maintain sponsorship of the Cheltenham Gold Cup after they picked up the “Nanny”, but they have let the Chester Gold Cup go. The Sponsorship has been picked up by Gibraltar based Stan James. Dennis Kelly of Stan James has signed on the line that is doted in a deal rolling up to 2014. The first StanJames.com Cup will take place on May the 9th. The race is for four year olds and upwards and historically has race over an extended trip of 2miles, 2 furlongs and a few extra yards for good measure.   Champion Hurdle Contendor Overturn reigning Chester Cup Winner The winner of the last race is smart young hurdler Overturn, a horse that gamely leads but tends to get done in the final couple of furlongs when in top company.
