Stan James Sportsbook Free Bet Bonus

Stan James were the firm that originally lead the pre-internet bet in-play revolution, and I can remember them as the first notable firm that launched a 24/7 call centre. Back in the day I used to love watching their tele-text prices update in-play, if I remember correctly the television price box was on channel four page 634.

Stan James missed the internet boat, when other firms were launching sportsbook’s in the early noughties they instead had only an internet site displaying prices which couldn’t be processed online, instead relying on the call centre to process the bets.

Anyhow, enough of the history lesson, we are racing through the 2010′s and I’m going to be reviewing Stan James’ racing, as well as football, darts and all other site areas!

I clicked through the special banner on Sportsbook Guardian to qualify for a £10 sign up bonus! The registration was pretty straight forward, and pleasingly when a form box was missed out it didn’t blank all the fields (drives me nuts when this happens!). There’s live-chat on screen to help with any issues I may have encountered.

When I trialled this I found the response time almost instantaneous, though when I dealt with the support operative my particular chap was a little slow on the draw. Perhaps I got the dunce of the shift! Customer service is in the form of live chat, telephone and email. When you’re ready to deposit cash you’ll find the process is simple, though would be good to see more payment provider options.

Their homepage is quite content rich, and provides links along the left hand side to commentary, their blog, the Twitter and Facebook pages, and statistics section. It’s nice to see the effort to increase content and they do well with this, perhaps the next challenge would be to inject a bit more personality into the mix. They have streamed video pictures; this is a really nice feature for active customers.

Stan James’ range of sports is comprehensive, and their diversity of sports is close to Bet365 or Bwin. Their sporting options included hurling, cycling, bowls, handball and Aussie rules. As a Sportsbook that grew in the UK (Oxfordshire originally, but now most staff in the shadow of the Rock of Gibraltar) their racing coverage is solid. They price horse races daily and have a varied Ante Post selection. Racing fans will be pleased to see that they put money back into the sport by high profile sponsorship of races such as the Champion Hurdle.

For all the major markets Stan James offer a wide range of in-play markets, for the bigger football games they have at the time of the review 46 separate in-play markets. For major games 1×2 markets they bet to a competitive 108%.

I found Stan James to be very much moving with the times and offering both strong value and a great range of markets. When you join Stan James don’t forget to take advantage of Sportsbook Guardian’s exclusive sign up bonus to get some free bets!

  • Stan James Sponsored Chester Cup almost sold out.

May 8, 2012Chris Denny TweetDual purpose star Overturn is favourite for his third StanJames sponsored Chester Cup. The race will be televised live on Channel Four (after the weekends dual Classic treat we are being spoilt), but if you want to see the races up close it’s best to book the tickets asap as some enclosures have sold out already. Most enclosures have gone for Ladies day all ready (don’t worry I am sure the Rooneys will have got their tickets early!), and to make things worse their website has crashed! Of course a free alternative is to sit on the Chester Wall, take the picnic, some binoculars, a radio for the commentary and a smart phone for betting and you will have a cracking day if the sun shines! A similar free experience can be enjoyed on Tattenham Corner on the Derby Day. I am not going up this year, though have a Sunday meeting at Fakenham to look forward to at the end of this month.     TweetAverage Rating: Write your own review. • Bored with Stan James Board Prices Offer?

March 5, 2012Chris Denny TweetBeen a big fan of Stan James for many years, partly because I used to punt with them on the telephone when they were the trailblazing firm that rolled out in-play betting. They were the front runner in the race that has now seen Sportingbet and Bet365 currently take up the pace. Back in the day they were also the firm that first went 24/7 for their call centre. I still have happy memories of calling up and backing Michael Schumacher at 2am to win the Adelaide Grand Prix. However it’s fair to say that the Gibraltar based sportsbook is now lagging a bit behind Ladbrokes, William Hill, BetVictor and Bet365 in that they don’t offer best priced guarantee for UK and Ireland racing. They used to run this promotion until a couple of years back. Now Stan James only offer best price guarantee for board prices. To the uninitiated, board prices are displayed as the opening price show from the track, typically on offer 10-15 minutes before off. “Board prices” cut out fun of accas Part of the fun with using Bet365 (and others) is that you can place an early morning lucky 15, lucky 31 (or other favoured accumulator punt) and know that if the price drifts you still get paid out at SP. As accumulator betting is typically not the preserve of the more serious punter (generalisation, but holds true in average) I would have felt that Stan James could have offered this. Punters never had it so good! Half a dozen years ago I would have been shouting Stan James board price guarantee offer from the tree tops as in the then climate the bet would have led the pack. However in 2012 punters have never had it so good, and Stan James may well lose out online racing share if they don’t look to match offers with the other leading company’s. I still punt with Stan James, but of the six accounts that I regularly use for racing Stan James is one of least used at present. TweetAverage Rating: Write your own review. • Bet365 Accumulator Bonus, Stan James Nagging!

January 28, 2012Chris Denny TweetCheltenham Fun So begins another weekend folks, and we have Cheltenham on the menu, yum! David Pipe sadly failed to RSVP for the guest of honour, but Grand Crus will be making an appearance no doubt in March. The speculation grows as to whether it will go straight for the Gold Cup. My personal feelings are that it would be a crying shame to rush the horse, Arkle didn’t go straight at the Gold Cup, and I don’t believe novices should. They have the French bred star entered in a 3m chase at Newbury on the 11th of February, and if it goes there it will no doubt ramp up Cheltenham speculation even further! I am hoping to get stuck into the punting this afternoon, and will no doubt be tweeting throughout the day. Had a good week so far, so not sure whether to roll it up, or be conservative. As the saying goes, “I’m playing with their money”. Some quality horses in action, Hinterland in particular could be right out of the top draw. Bet365 Accumulator Bonus (Football, or “soccer” if you prefer! Got an email from Bet365 today, forward should blog about an offer that I personally won’t be getting involved in, bot because it’s not good, but because it’s footy related and I don’t have much of a handle on footy form. In a nutshell, and in their words: Simply place a pre-match treble or larger accumulator on games taking place in Serie A, Primera Liga, Bundesliga 1, Premier League or the Champions League and if your bet is successful you will be given a bonus on top of your winnings. The larger the accumulator the larger the bonus you will receive and placing a winning 14-fold will be rewarded with a massive 100% bonus. If you are a budding Tony Bloom it may well be of interest to you. The Gibraltar based firm let customers select reminders for when a self selected horse, jockey or trainer is in action. Quite a novel idea, albeit one that has been tried before. If they get it right I would imagine it could be a really successful tool for them increasing bet volume. I will be playing around with it over the next few weeks and will blog about how I get on. Am some “stat hounds” would be fans, I know more than one punter who likes to back certain trainers at certain courses due to positive returns to level stakes. Personally I prefer to take a more comprehensive view before punting than on a basis of a solitary statistic, but whatever works for the individual. Give us some racing Evening Standard I will still no doubt be leafing through the Racing Post’s declarations most days, though as racing face EddietheShoe has been tweeting about recently the Evening Standard has pretty much abandoned showing tomorrows racing cards unless the following day has the Derby or Grand National or something. A real shame, I guess that the Russian owner isn’t a fan of the punting. Years ago I spoke to one of the racing traders at Sporting Index, he told me that when he was younger his foolish friend used to lay him bets at the Evening Standard price tissue! Happy Punting. • Stan James takes over Sponsorship of Chester Cup

January 20, 2012Chris Denny TweetStan James pick up from ToteSport Fred Done and the team at Betfred chose to maintain sponsorship of the Cheltenham Gold Cup after they picked up the “Nanny”, but they have let the Chester Gold Cup go. The Sponsorship has been picked up by Gibraltar based Stan James. Dennis Kelly of Stan James has signed on the line that is doted in a deal rolling up to 2014. The first StanJames.com Cup will take place on May the 9th. The race is for four year olds and upwards and historically has race over an extended trip of 2miles, 2 furlongs and a few extra yards for good measure.   Champion Hurdle Contendor Overturn reigning Chester Cup Winner The winner of the last race is smart young hurdler Overturn, a horse that gamely leads but tends to get done in the final couple of furlongs when in top company. Having raced in the International at Cheltenham and behind Binocular in the Christmas Hurdle it’s priced 33/1 for the Champion Hurdle. TweetAverage Rating: Write your own review. Really Good

Jan 18, 2012 by JSutton

Was the first online bookmaker that I set up an account with, having in the past had tele bet bookmaker cards. I have always in the past found them accommodating for my chosen stakes and they offer a good range of sports that are covered by Sky Sports (essentially anything I would fancy a bet on).
Had an issue with withdrawing to a new card, and customer support was pretty good, offering a solution even though was a Saturday. Tend to bet with a variety of online bookmakers now, but still come back to Stan James if the prices are good.
