The Pulteney Land Investments Novices’ Handicap Chase has been in existance since 2005 and is open to horses on an official rating of between 0 – 140. The race is still commonly referred to as the Centenary Novices’ Handicap Chase and is the final race on the first Tuesday of the Cheltenham Festival. Horses must be 5 years and older to enter the race.

In 2011 the total purse was around £55,000, with the winner taking home a touch over £30k.

There are a total of 16 fences across the 2-mile 4 furlong course.
