What goes through the mind of a top Darts player’s head just days before the world championships begin?
Although I was warned, I took to the streets of Twitter and delved into the deep unknown; it is all for you my friend.
Lets see what everyone is talking about.

Phil Taylor- Evens to Win
@PhilDTaylor starts us off…rather boringly I am afraid. ‘The Power’, who loves attention, seems to love winning even more. He gives away nothing on Twitter as to his thoughts. He does however mention a child’s game called, “SMART DARTS”. He must be focused on winning another World Championship, not good news for the rest of the field.
Third favourite and last year’s Champion, Adrian Lewis, does not follow Taylor’s example of giving away little on Twitter. @Jackpot180 recently Tweeted,“thanks for all your support folks”. Lewis also mentioned a re-tweet for someone raising money and that he was on ‘Question of Sport’ on Monday. Did not really need the, “not letting you know if we won or not”, part but glad to see the effort.

Mark Webster is 28/1 to win the World Champs
Mark Webster shows a clear excitement for the World Championships. @Webby180 today posted, “Just in Rhyl waiting on a train to London for the biggest and best darts tournament in the world”. Here is a man who cannot wait to get on the Oche and show his stuff. After last week’s performance of making it to the final last week, who can blame him.

Raymond van Barneveld is 33-1 to become World Champ again
@Raybar180 (Raymond van Barneveld) is giving away nothing into his thoughts. ‘Barney’ seems to rarely use Twitter, he also tweets in English and Dutch which never helps. His most recent post in Dutch says, “What can I hear? Is it football?” Too much information if you ask me. However, we all know that the Dutchman loves supporting his ‘Barney Army;’ wish it would transform to his Tweets. Maybe it will do soon.

"The Warrior" is 40/1 to win.
Wes Newton’s twitter page is full of support. Supprt from all his sponsors to be fair. @Warrior 180, like Webster, tweeted that he is looking forward to the World Championships. He is also very obviously a Fleetwood Town football fan. I am not even sure what division they are in but you have to respect the loyalty.

Back 'The Asset' at 50/1 as the outright winner this week
Paul Nicholson strangely enough has a Pittsburgh Steelers’ helmet as his Twitter profile picture, oh well. @The Asset180 tweeted this on December 12th, “Let us all gear up now, because it’s heads down for the biggest event ever. I for one will be ready”. It continues on but, lets be honest, we understand that ‘the Asset’ is ready play this year; hopefully he will continue his hilarious interview comments.

Chisnall is 66/1 to win it all this year; however great to follow on Twitter
Dave Chisnall is easily the most active on Twitter. @ChizzyChisnall shows a distinct joy at reporting on when his matches are taking place, the result and even comments on everything else that is taking place. A great man to follow although nothing on the World Championships yet. Is he getting serious or showing some nerves? We’ll have to wait to find out.

I got my journalism degree from Mississippi State University and have been offering advice on many sports for a fair few years now. I started off offering tips on tennis during the big tournaments (I played a lot as a junior) and really enjoyed helping out my Dad with tips.
After doing this for a few years, I realised that looking for value could be found in other sports that I enjoyed such as darts, snooker and football. This led to many accumulators no matter what the sport and then offering on advice on anybody that asked.
I am looking forward to putting my ideas down on paper and always appreciate comments from the reader.
