Four Quality Courses at a Quality Course!
After waxing lyrical about Fontwell’s restaurant in a review blog on Saturday I could be taken for always writing positive reports as yesterday I had a brilliant meal at Towcester. However rest assured I try to be objective and do try to call it as I receive it, as readers of my more negative review of Plumpton’s restaurant will see.… Read More…

Thankfully this weekend I was allowed into the Restaurant without an Orange Sticker!
Umm’d and erred about going to Ascot for the Victor Chandler Chases meeting, and in the end I watched it on Channel Four Racing and had a meal at Towcester instead.
If I had gone to be honest I would have ideally preferred to wear what I wore for Towcester, and indeed what I normally elect to clothe myself in when I go jumps racing: leather shoes, smart jeans (I could say designer if I was vain!), warm smart jumper and sensible coat.… Read More…

Fontwell House and Premier Lounge in 888.com Stand
I have eaten twice at Fontwell in the past year, the most recent time was on the 30th September, a day upon which believe it or not, some of us got a sun tan. On both times we used the restaurant I went along with the team from Hyperion (betting industry recruitment firm that I work for) and you can see some of the pictures on Hyperion’s Facebook Page.… Read More…

Gold Cup Hero Denman Denied Newbury Parade
Sad to hear that Denman’s career ending injury has been deemed so severe that the Paul Nicholls trained Gold Cup and Hennessy legend won’t be able to make the pre race parade at Newbury on February 11th. He was due to parade before a race named in his honour.
Harking bad to happier times, here is his second Hennessy.… Read More…

Another Paddy Power Advert Banned
Paddy Power seems to have a hate-hate relationship with the Advertising Standards Agency, as the ASA seem to regularly enjoy pulling the Irish bookmaker’s adverts. The ASA is renowned as a body that is notoriously trigger happy, and apparently only a solitary few complaints can result in one of their judgements being passed down. The latest features Luis Suarez who was only 24 when the image was taken, and according to legislation nobody under 25 can be used in promotions relating to gambling.
On a positive every time an advert gets pulled it’s guaranteed to get press coverage and muggins here is writing a blog about some of the banned promotions, so it isn’t all doom and gloom!… Read More…

Victor Chandler Ducking Somersby
So Saturday features one of the highlights of Ascots calendar, and indeed one of the jewels in the pre-Cheltenham Festival agenda: The Victor Chandler Chase.
As has been blogged about elsewhere, probably next year this will be rebranded to the BetVictor Chase as the Gibraltar based bookmaker have emulated Mars choclate changing Marathon to Snickers! Well, I’m sure the rationale is slightly different, I struggle to turn down my sarcasm default!… Read More…

Henderson’s Cheltenham Festival Hopes 2012
A very quick update on a few of Nicky Henderson’s hopefuls for the up and coming 2012 Cheltenham Festival. I am getting really excited about Cheltenham already and unfortunately we still have 3 months to go until blast off, oh well, perhaps watching the Victor Chandler Chase this weekend will be of some solace.
Henderson has a very interesting Gold Cup hopeful up his sleeve this year in the form of the relatively unknown quantity Burton Port.… Read More…

Victor Chandler Chase Day Or BetVictor?
Doing my best to make a case for taking the car down to Berkshire for Saturday’s big meeting. The Victor Chandler Day is one of the highlights of the jumps seasonfor me, as it’s a meeting that I can get to by motor. If I put my foot down and the M25′s clear (seldom) the journey can be done in around an hour.… Read More…
