All out! Pretty much all the major player Open race trainers had resolved to boycott the Betfair sponsored Trainers Championship in a GOBATA protest about the continual low prize money offered for Open Races. With the increased cost of diesel it is becoming more and more difficult for the top open racing trainers to make it pay.
The boycott was announced at a GOBATA meeting at Towcester (site of future dog track) and was backed by the most famous trainers, including Mark Wallis, current Derby Champ Charlie Lister OBE, Nick Savva and Seamus Cahill.… Read More…
Sincere commiserations to Harry Redknapp who travelled to Taunton to watch his Alan King trained Bygones in Brid fall at the first hurdle and suffer an instant fatal injury. Just a quick blog with my two pence (average turnover for a BAGs bookie per race!) in regard to Dave Johnston’s column in the Racing Post Greyhounds earlier this week. The thrust of his column is that BAGS bookmakers bet to %’s at which the punter is at a serious disadvantage.
