Bet365 Kills Greyhounds Offer

Romford 1st Bend Restaurant

If I have a favourite bookmaker it is Bet365, if they are equally best priced I tend to punt with them over other firms. This is mainly because they are always keen to pump in special offers, and also as their iPhone platform is solid. In particular I love it when they do their bet £50 on a major football match, and get a free £50 bet in-play for the game.… Read More…

Why it’s nuts to get into Greyhound Racing Ownership!

Catford Dogs

Lock me up, put me in a padded cell, get me on a scrip for an elephant dose of valium. I think I am losing my sanity, shortly to be followed by my wallet.

“Don’t go into your head unaccompanied”!

Why the concern that my few remaining marbles are rolling out of my ear, soon to be lost irrevocably? I just had an urge to get back into dog racing again!… Read More…

Greyhound Trainers Strike Off

Greyhound Racing Strike

All out! Pretty much all the major player Open race trainers had resolved to boycott the Betfair sponsored Trainers Championship in a GOBATA protest about the continual low prize money offered for Open Races. With the increased cost of diesel it is becoming more and more difficult for the top open racing trainers to make it pay.

Greyhound Strike

The boycott was announced at a GOBATA meeting at Towcester (site of future dog track) and was backed by the most famous trainers, including Mark Wallis, current Derby Champ Charlie Lister OBE, Nick Savva and Seamus Cahill.… Read More…

Commiserations to Harry Redknapp

Harry Redknapp and AP McCoy

Life’s Up and Downs

Sincere commiserations to Harry Redknapp who travelled to Taunton to watch his Alan King trained Bygones in Brid fall at the first hurdle and suffer an instant fatal injury. The horse had cost £100,000 and was viewed as a good prospect with expectations of giving Redknapp plenty of fun, potentially having the scope to progress to contest some of the better “Saturday races”.… Read More…

Towcester Greyhound Racing

Lord Hesketh’s planning permission granted

Following the shot in the arm that the launch of the Racing Post Greyhounds TV provided the sport greyhound racing is today a recipient of further good news. It has been reported that the planning permission to have dog racing at Towcester has been approved. Things have moved very quickly since Lord Hesketh first submitted the paperwork in October last year.… Read More…

Aero Joker to have laugh on Bet365 at Romford.

Mark Wallis Yarmouth Dogs Trainer

Top open race action tends to come along like buses, and today’s serving includes the three semis of the Spingbok at Wimbledon, where the cream of novice hurdlers are bidding to place in the front two to qualify for the final on Sky TV on Tuesday.

Romford Action on Racing Post Greyhounds TV

My punting focus is on the other side of London, and on the traditional all open card at Romford.… Read More…

You Can’t Eat Value. Can You?

Value Cake

Definition of betting Value?

Value, the elusive commodity, that’s hard to spot, can’t be eaten and like beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. I should know, today I punted Celestial Halo at 5/2 and Description at 2/1, watching them get beaten and return starting prices of 7/4 and 13/8 respectively. If Celebration had read the script a good days betting would have become an exceptional days punting.… Read More…

Is “All-Weather Racing” an Oxymoron?

Wolverhampton All Weather Snowed off

Jack Frost decimates Jumps Racing

What a last few days we have had, the snow was almost 4 inches high in London, and much of the capital ground to a halt accordingly! Much more concerning than an inability to get down the shops has been the cancelation of all the quality jumps racings, including a card at Towcester that I had booked a day off to watch.… Read More…

“Greedy Bookmakers” BAGS’s, response to Dave Johnston

Walthamstow Dogs Bookmaker Dougie Tyler

Just a quick blog with my two pence (average turnover for a BAGs bookie per race!) in regard to Dave Johnston’s column in the Racing Post Greyhounds earlier this week. The thrust of his column is that BAGS bookmakers bet to %’s at which the punter is at a serious disadvantage. Or should I say “price to” instead of “bet to” as turnover is more or less none existent at BAGS meetings.… Read More…
