There has been increased speculation that Bwin may end their established sponsorship relationship with Real Madrid. It will be very interesting to see whether the Austrian based sports betting giant renews its high profile commercial relationship with the Spanish Galacticos.

Money talks, and Bwin will be having to sign a big cheque for the 2012/2013 sponsorship. At present there are five football teams who are valued in excess of $1billion, these being Real themselves, Man Utd, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and North Londons Arsenal.

Last night Bwin’s team went out to one of the other $1billion+ teams, losing an emotional penalty shoot out to Bayern Munich. Still with the Spanish teams progress to the later stages Bwin did get a lot of exposure. The name of the game is bang for your buck!

I have been involved in the betting industry since the late 90’s and have in that time worked for a on course bookmaker (at now much missed Catford Dogs), spent time at a leading spread betting company, and worked for Betfair in their two year start-up phase.

In 2007 I co-founded iGaming supplier Hyperion Gaming with long suffering business partner Alex Lafferty.

Being involved in the industry for so long has given me a good understanding of the wonderful world of online gambling, and I put effort into giving honest opinions, that remain my own!
