Huddersfield look to make it third time lucky in play-off football and gain promotion to the Championship.

Huddersfield have fallen short at this stage in the previous two seasons but are looking favourite to finally achieve their goal after falling short at the last hurdle a year ago against Peterborough.

Third times the charm

With Huddersfield greater attacking prowess they look to have to have the firepower to blast their way beyond their play-off hoodoo. Many bookmakers see things differently though. Sheffield United have been priced as 17/10 favourites with BetVictor after their successful first season in England’s third tier.

Much of their success though, was down to the goals of Ched Evans. Without him in their side United have won only 1 of 5 games, managing only the solitary strike in the play-off semi final against Stevenage.

On recent form then, BetVictor’s odds 0f 9/5 for Huddersfield to win the game look much better value for money.

Goals a given?

Rhodes celebrates a goal

Jordan Rhodes will look to add to his 39 goals against Sheffield United.

In contrast to Sheffield United’s recent struggle in front of goal, Huddersfield have found goals pretty easy to come by. Their main threat to the United goal will of course be Jordan Rhodes who has already bagged 39 goals in a prolific season for the Scotsman. Odds of 6/5 with Coral for Rhodes to score any time may not provide excellent value, but it would be hard to look anywhere else in the goalscoring markets.

At the other end, Ched Evans absence may prove even more vital as Huddersfield’s defence has conceded fewer than two goals in five of their last six games.

All things considered, I would back Huddersfield to finally break their play-off duck, and Jordan Rhodes to do the business in front of goal and blast his team to glory.
