One of the biggest names to be released from their clubs this summer will be Michael Owen. Owen was once one of the most sought after strikers in world football, but now he is looking for a chance to reignite his career in the Premier League. There will undoubtedly be plenty of suitors for the 32 year old despite his previous injury problems. Their is no doubt that he can still finish and score in the Premier League but which club will take a punt on him.
Stoke Early Favourites
One of these clubs could be Stoke City. They will be looking to add some much needed fire-power to their attack having scored only 36 goals in 38 games this season. Owen could form an interesting partnership with Peter Crouch up front as a perfect big man little man combination. This could be a move that helps Stoke into the top half of the table. William Hill are currently offering the best price at evens for the former Liverpool man to make the move to the Britania Stadium.
Another club who may offer Owen a chaance could be Everton. Despite Owen’s affinity with Merseyside rivals Liverpool, the Toffees could use another striker to add some depth to their strike force. Whilst Nikica Jelavic has shown signs of being a quality Premier League striker, Owen could add a different dimension to the squad. Skybet are currently offering 8/1 on Owen wearing the blue of Everton next season.
Sunderland and Villa in the hunt?
Aston Villa and Sunderland are both longer shots but moves to these clubs could make sense. Sunderland will be losing Nicklas Bendtner as he returns to Arsenal after his loan spell and could be looking at adding another forward. Villa could also be interested as they need a spark to lift their fan base after their disastrous season with ex manager Alex Mcleish. They are also going to have to replace Emile Heskey whose contract expires in the summer. Bet Victor are offering 16/1 on both of these teams and they could be worth a bet.
